Explore the art and architecture, cobblestone streets and storybook cottages, secret gardens, and hidden courtyards of this wee seaside village.
Teams compete, using their creativity, camaraderie, and competitive spirit to track down locations, answer tricky questions, and capture creative photo and video challenges, all while exploring the fabled winding pathways of Carmel-by-the-Sea.
The Great Carmel Caper is a social group scavenger hunt that gets players moving, laughing, and connecting as they explore the art, history, architecture, hidden pathways and secret gardens of Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Our host(s) greet your group and sign in the players, ensuring they each know their team, have the app downloaded and are ready to play. Some hunts come with a map, some with other materials, but most of the game consists of a series of creative challenges and location-based clues contained right in our scavenger hunt app.
When everyone is ready, our host(s) get players in the mood with an orientation, going over the rules, how to win points, how to lose points, and generally how to play. Once the starting bell sounds, teams are off! They then spread out, tracking down clues and completing challenges.
During play, teams can see each others’ photos and videos in a live feed of the game, or get motivated by checking out the leaderboard. At the end of the hunt, entries are closed, teams are scored, and a winner is declared!
We are happy to change the start location, end location, and duration of the hunt to suit your needs and include special announcements in the introduction or conclusion. For an extra fee we can arrange destination missions that provide bottles of wine, chocolates, honey, nuts, or awesome baked goods for your participants to hunt down and enjoy.
The Great Carmel Caper’s introduction and conclusion usually occur in Devendorf Park, although we are happy to change the starting and end locations to suit your needs.
Bragging rights are the ultimate prize in this hunt. If you have your own prizes you wish to give to teams, you may present them at the conclusion. If you wish for the host to present these prizes in the finale, please let the hosts know at the start of the hunt.
Absolutely! There is a minimum charge of 20 guests, but we can definitely still show you a great time if your team or family isn’t quite that big.
